A: Thanks for reaching out Jon! This particular shell features Federal's TruBall system. Between the shell's wad and hollow-base slug sits a round, plastic ball. This keeps the wad and slug firmly planted to one another throughout ignition, which centers and pushes the projectile more evenly down the barrel. The ball and wad detach immediately following expulsion, but not before stabilizing the slug to promote exceptional accuracy. Federal says these slugs can group 1.4" at 50 yards.

A: Hi Brent. Yes, the Truball is a rifled slugs. Rifled slugs (slugs with the rifling molded in) are specifically designed for use in smoothbore shotguns. The Truball is one of the best made!
