Unlike most slug loads, these Brenneke 12 gauge shells are designed for home defense use. They are optimized for shorter range performance and use a low-recoil load that is less likely to overpenetrate and harm bystanders or property while still stopping a threat quickly and decisively. The reduced kick also makes this ammo more controllable in a defensive situation and makes fast follow-up shots easier.

Each 2-3/4" shell in this box of 5 fires a one ounce slug (suitable for both smoothbore and rifled shotguns) at a low muzzle velocity of 1,378 feet per second. It uses a wad that is designed not to separate from the projectile.

Brenneke is named for its founder, Wilhelm Brenneke.
