BioAmmo has reinvented the shotshell. This 12 Gauge target load contains no plastic: not in its wad, and not in its hull, either! The two components are made out of a material called biopolymer, which itself is mostly cornstarch and as such fully compostable.

If the wad and hull are left on the ground, bacteria and other tiny organisms will eventually eat them all up. That’s great for private ranges where you would rather not leave hundreds of plastic wads lying around. The breakdown process may take as long as two years, though, so you’ll still probably want to scoop the hulls up. The hulls are non-reloadable, yet strong enough to reliably cycle through any shotgun.

#8 shot is one of the most popular shot sizes for trap, skeet and sporting clays, and when its made as well as BioAmmo’s it produces a really tight pattern which clays have a hard time escaping. This shell’s wad isn’t just earth-friendly – it also reduces felt recoil as it compresses during ignition, and erects fins for cleaner shot detachment once it clears the muzzle.

BioAmmo shotshells can be stored in normal conditions for at least five years.
