Black Aces Tactical had already made a big name for themself with their fine shotguns. Earlier in 2020 they threw their hat into the ammo market by beginning to produce 00 buck shotshells. And now they’re doubling down with the introduction of their own 12 Gauge rifled slug ammunition!

We’re not the world’s leading experts on human physiology. That said, you don’t exactly have to be Dr. Quinn to know this ammo means serious trouble to the malevolent home invader. With its 1 ounce rifled slug it turns any smoothbore shotgun into a veritable battering ram, capable of delivering a crazy powerful 2,613 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle. That’s about nine times the minimum recommended energy for self-defense!

Black Aces Tactical isn’t actually set up to deal with primers and propellant at their factory in Florida. That’s why they tagged Clever of Verona, Italy to manufacture this ammo for them. Clever has produced shotshells for over 50 years, and their high grade components and “continuous and obsessive supervision in every production phase” mean you’re in good hands when you choose the Black Aces label for your castle defending needs.

Q: Curious, what kind of accuracy are these getting at 50 to 75 yards from a smooth bore tactical shotgun? I own a Remington 870 Tactical Express 18" smooth bore barrel.

Q: Hello. I am interested in the Black Aces rifled slugs for rifle range use. I noticed that the name of the product is "tactical load", which from what I understand, typically means less velocity. However, this slug is 1640 fps. I just want to make sure this slug works properly in my shotgun. I have a 12 gauge Mossberg Maverick 88 security model. I'd hate to purchase 200 rounds and have issues. Thanks.

A: Hi Michael! "Black Aces Tactical" is actually the full name of the company that produces this ammo, not its designation. You could certainly make good use of this ammo in a tactical fracas, but it's not "tactical ammo" per se. I see zero reason to expect any functionality issues with your Maverick.
