This round does the light shot column, fast muzzle velocity trick. It’s loaded with 410 beads of #8 shot instead of the maximum permissible 461, which means the shot column exhibits relatively less inertia during ignition. You get a fast muzzle velocity – 1,330 fps, which really does make it easier to crush a clay in midair – but the shell’s lighter shot column and Federal’s cushioned wad won’t make you pay for it in the form of excessive recoil.
