This 12 Gauge ammunition by BioAmmo is one of the most environmentally friendly ways you can hunt with a shotgun. Not only is its shot made of steel, a nontoxic metal which cannot poison upland game and waterfowl – it contains zero plastic as well.

How did BioAmmo make a plastic-free shotshell? The answer is biopolymer – a plant based material which is similar to plastic minus the longevity. When a biopolymer tube or wad is left outdoors – be it on the ground or in the water – it quickly becomes food for fungi and other decomposers. In just a couple of years those microbes will convert biopolymer into natural compounds like salt and water!

BioAmmo forges highly spherical shot, which is naturally equipped to establish and maintain a tight pattern. This shell’s 1,312 fps muzzle velocity gives steel the energy it needs to remain deadly downrange, and its wad is designed with wide side vents which trigger the erection of multiple petals upon leaving the barrel. These act as an air brake, thus assuring the shot column can cleanly detach from the wad to promote a more efficient in-flight pattern.

BioAmmo shotshells can be stored in normal conditions for at least five years.
