Duck habitat is precious land – we respect it because we want to keep it in good shape for the next generation of hunters. This 12 Gauge ammo by BioAmmo isn’t just loaded with steel shot that won’t harm the waterfowl (unless you’re aiming at them). It also features “biopolymer” hulls and wads, which are fully compostable.

Biopolymer is made out of plants – namely corn – which also makes it completely edible to microorganisms like bacteria and fungus. It decays whether it’s lying on the ground or sitting underwater, and it should reduce to nothing but salt and carbon dioxide in about two years. You can bring the hulls home for the trash or the compost heap, but you don’t have to feel guilty for leaving your wads wherever they land.

This shell is loaded with #3 steel shot, which is fully compliant with hunting laws and a popular size for taking ducks flying in over decoys. A muzzle velocity of 1,312 fps gives steel decent impact energy without too much recoil in exchange, and the biopolymer wad breaks clean from the shot column to let it pattern nice and consistently.

BioAmmo shotshells can be stored in normal conditions for at least five years.
