Did you really think Wolf would limit themselves to making pistol and rifle ammunition? Well, we love you, but we have tell you when you’re wrong. The Russian manufacturer makes a wide selection of shotgun ammunition as well, like this 12 Gauge rifled slug – a versatile approach for hunting deer, dropping home intruders, and destroying pretty much any kind of target you could balance on top of a tree stump.

This shell is loaded with a 1-1/8 ounce lead rifled slug. Appropriate for rifled bore and smoothbore shotguns alike, the slug is designed to pass safely through a variety of choke tubes and burst out of a shotgun’s muzzle at 1,400 fps. At that rate a slug like this packs over 1,900 ft lbs of muzzle energy, which is about double what is recommended for ethical whitetail hunting and well beyond adequate for personal protection. This slug’s effect on a water-based medium is equivalent to taking a sledgehammer to a piñata full of cottage cheese. A disgusting analogy, to be fair, but it gives you the picture.

Wolf furnishes their 12 Gauge slug with a plastic wad which takes some of the sting out of recoil, a non-corrosive primer and clean burning propellant, and a nifty plastic hull that you can see right through. We know a round’s appearance has nothing to do with its performance, but hey – we’re just suckers for transparent hulls.
