Smashing clay pigeons is phenomenally easy. All you need is a hammer and a flat surface. But once you start flinging them into the air you’ll need more specialized equipment: a shotgun, and a box of Gold Medal Extra-Lite ammunition by Federal!

This 12 Gauge shotshell is the ideal choice for skeet thanks to its tiny, tight-patterning #9 shot, although it will serve great for trap and sporting clays as well. Federal loads this shell with the maximum 1-1/8 ounces of shot which the NSSA permits for competition. They optimized it to deliver less recoil by lowering its muzzle velocity to 1,100 fps. That subsonic muzzle velocity won’t punish your shoulder or throw off your aim very much with each shot, but it still provides ample energy to reliably shatter a clay!

Federal ensures consistent patterns by screening their shot pellets for uniform dimensions, casting them hard enough to resist deformation, and teaming them up with a fine wad which separates cleanly from the column following ejection from the muzzle. This shell’s noncorrosive 209A primer ignites reliably, and once removed will let you reload Federal’s high quality hull.
