This 12 Gauge target shell by Federal features a bit of a throwback – a real paper hull. Now, that’s not just for nostalgia’s sake. A supple paper hull also helps to soften felt recoil, which is of especial value during a competition or grueling training regimen!
This shell makes recoil even more gentle thanks to its two-piece wad, which features the Minnesotan manufacturer’s own SoftCell technology. But a shell with such a little kick still delivers great performance for trap and sporting clays when it’s loaded with Federal’s hard, dense and perfectly globular #8 lead shot pellets. The 460 or so shot pellets will not scatter very far apart even if they must cover dozens of yards en route to your target.
Federal’s Gold Medal Grand Paper hull may be made out of paper, but in conjunction with its solid brass head it’s plenty strong enough to feed and eject without a hiccup. Just take care that this ammo’s not legal for Olympic or other international competitions.
