Federal Premium of Anoka, Minnesota presents just what you need to prepare for your next ten games of trap, skeet, or sporting clays. This case of 12 Gauge Gold Medal ammunition may not actually contain any gold, but it’s far better than any old precious metal as far as we’re concerned.

Each one of these shells is loaded with 1 1/8 ounces of shot, the maximum weight permissible according to the Amateur Trapshooting Association’s official rule book. At a muzzle velocity of 1,100 fps it is subsonic, so your ears will profit from a somewhat muted report. (Do still wear hearing protection, of course.)

The shot itself is good old #7.5. At 0.095” in diameter these shot pellets hit the sweet spot of range and spread that you want for erupting airborne clays. Federal’s shot is both consistently sized and very hard, so it offers good accuracy that promotes tighter patterns at several dozen yards. This shell’s plastic wad is similarly high quality and consistently scatters its shot close together.

Federal gives a good home to their shot in the form of this shell’s strong, extruded plastic tube. It’s replete with a concentric brass head for smooth feeding and a non-corrosive primer for good clean fun at the range.
