This round’s 1-1/4 ounce shot column is just a touch too heavy for competitive target shooting, and its 1,330 fps muzzle velocity means it’s going to generate more recoil energy than you’re accustomed to if you’ve only fired target loads. It’s worth the extra kick, though. You’ll let loose about 730 individual 0.08” diameter shot pellets with every tug of the trigger, and that faster muzzle velocity translates to a longer effective range.
Each one of this shell’s shot pellets has been screened three times – Fiocchi’s way of making certain they pattern with exceeding uniformity. Their wad’s full length shot cup and collapsing base provide even greater assurance that you’ll unleash a narrow pattern. The base also crumples to absorb some recoil during ignition, so you’ll have less muzzle rise to overcome while you’re emptying out your second barrel.
Fiocchi loads these rounds with clean-burning powder that ignites at a nice consistent rate to further soften out felt recoil. Once all of their sensitive primers have done their jobs, it’ll be up to you to reload Fiocchi’s high-quality hulls.
