A: Thanks for reaching out Jim! One pellet of double-aught usually weighs about 53.8 grains. Eight pellets weigh approximately 430.4 grains – just 6.6 grains shy of one ounce. This shell's shot column's total combined muzzle energy is 1,678 ft lbs.

A: Thanks for reaching out John! The numbers or letters that come before the name of a shot pellet indicate that shot pellet's diameter. A 00 buck pellet is 0.33" in diameter. A larger triple-aught pellet is 0.36" in diameter. Bigger shot pellets hit their target with more energy. But because they are bigger, fewer can fit inside a shotshell. Smaller shot pellets hit their target with less energy, but more of them hit their target overall.
