A: Thanks for reaching out John! I can't rightly guarantee any kind of performance out of a shotgun that I haven't personally inspected and tested. That said, this 4-3/4 dram equivalent ammunition should absolutely generate enough energy to reliably operate your semi-auto. All you really have to know is this warning in the A300 Ultima manual: "Firing slugs and buck shot through the A300 Patrol can result in lead buildup in the gas operating system. Beretta recommends cleaning the gas cylinder, piston, ring, and barrel after every 200 rounds to ensure reliable function when firing these types of ammunition."

A: Thanks for reaching out John! Make no mistake: This shell is going to absolutely devastate a human-sized target at close range. One slug in the threat's center of mass and it's lights out for said threat. This primary drawback is over-penetration. This powerful slug is nearly certain to completely pass through a human-sized target at close range (and you're almost certain to engage the threat at close range as far as home defense is concerned). Once the slug has passed through the threat, it may jeopardize any innocent bystanders which overlap with its trajectory. (A wise man once said that every bullet has a lawyer attached to it.)This potent shell is also going to generate a healthy amount of recoil. That's not a problem as far as many shooters are concerned, although heavy recoil translates to more muzzle flip following each trigger pull. That will jerk the barrel of the shotgun upward, which increases the amount of time it will take to restore your aim on the target. Those are the primary two reasons which come to mind when you ask why this ammo's not considered optimal for self-defense, although it is absolutely your right to decide otherwise.

A: Thanks for reaching out Andrew! Rifled slugs can indeed damage a rifled barrel. The rule is rifled slugs for smoothbore, sabot slugs for rifled bore.

A: This is a great hog or deer round. Not so much for personal defense though.
This is considered a full power load. Designed for longer distances and maximum impact energy on target.

A: Hi Harley. These rifled slugs can be fired through any choke barrel as long as the choke is made into the barrel. You will want to avoid rifled slugs through a barrel with a "compensator" type choke or screw in tubes. The best performance for accuracy will be through a cylinder bore choke or an improved cylinder bore. Let me know if I can get you some slugs on the way to you today! Ross
