A: Thanks for reaching out Charles! Yessir, a light load is any cartridge or shotshell that is designed to deliver less recoil. A shotshell's recoil energy is determined by five factors: shotgun weight, shot column weight, wad weight, powder weight and muzzle velocity (MV). When you're buying ammo, shot weight and muzzle velocity are really the two factors you can consider, as a lower shot weight and slower MV are going to give you the gentlest recoil. Now, this shell right here has about 1-1/4 oz. of shot and an MV of 1,140 fps. It's pretty low-recoil compared to other 00 buck loads. I'm not sure how old your sister is, but if the goal is to specifically train her on 00 buck then this'll be a great option. If you're just trying to introduce her to shotguns with the lowest-recoil ammo possible, then you might consider starting her off on a low-recoil target load, which is going to kick much, MUCH less than this 00 buck round right here. We've got a great option in store that your pump-action should handle just fine – this ammo's 7/8 oz. shot column and 980 fps MV make its recoil as gentle as possible: https://www.luckygunner.com/12-ga-2-3-4-low-recoil-target-7-8oz-8-winchester-aa-250-rounds

A: Thanks for reaching out Charlie! This shell does not feature Federal's FliteControl wad. It has their Triple Plus instead. This two-piece wad was introduced in 1969, and it is still extremely effective. I actually have a link to the original issue of Guns magazine that introduced the Triple Plus – please go to page seven if you'd like to read it!
