A: The term "rifled slug" is in reference to slug projectile itself. These will perform well in any smooth bore 12Ga shotgun and are designed for this application. It is recommended that a less restrictive choke is used on the shotgun if your shotgun is threaded for a choke. An improved choke would be acceptable in this case.
The sabot slug (saboted slug) is a different variation than a rifled slug. These sabot slugs are designed for shotguns with rifled barrels. These slugs somewhat resemble a typical rifle or pistol bullet. Sabot slugs are more expensive to make and do not provide any enhancement to a smooth bore as they depend on a twist found in a rifled barrel.
