This cartridge is loaded with one 135 grain jacketed hollow point bullet. When fired from a Glock 20’s 4.61” barrel, the JHP strikes its close-range target with over 450 ft lbs of kinetic energy. Not bad at all.
But the Equalizer round doesn’t stop there. Just behind the JHP sits a 55 grain hardcast disk. It groups tightly together with the JHP at ranges up to 25 yards. The rigid (21 Brinell) disk resists deformation as it slices and tumbles through flesh.
Doubletap’s Equalizer round is unconventional yet effective. The potential to inflict double the wound channels to the threat would not disservice you during a life-or-death tussle. The two lighter projectiles are also less inclined to pass through a man-sized target than a single 160+ grain bullet would be. That lessens (but doesn’t do away with) the risk of over-penetration.
