Why Purchase A Project Valour-IT Raffle Ticket At Lucky Gunner Ammo?
As part of this year's
Gun Blogger Rendezvous' fund raising efforts to benefit
Project Valour-IT, the Rendezvous originally setup the option of purchasing raffle tickets on line via PayPal - before PayPal shut it all down.
As you can see below, included in this raffle are two very nice prizes, a Para GI 1911 pistol, and a $2,000 four day training session at Front Sight Academy. The pistol was purchased and donated by Kevin from
The Smallest Minority, and the training was donated by
Front Sight Academy.
Each of these two donations is a separate prize in the raffle.
The
on line ticket portion of the raffle was set up and hosted by
Soldiers’ Angels, the parent organization of Project Valour-IT. In the first three and a half days over $1000 worth of tickets were sold on line. What a positive start!
Unfortunately, then some anti-gun bureaucrat at PayPal decided to shut it all down.
PayPal not only shut down the raffle ticket sales, they shut down ALL PayPal on line contributions for 12 hours to every area of Soldiers’ Angels.
Worst of all, Soldiers’ Angels was in the middle of a substantial fund raising drive and probably lost a significant amount of money as a result of PayPal's actions.
Let's be clear. PayPal choked off all online donations to this worthwhile group.
This went on for 12 hours - PayPal was refusing to accept donations for them right in the middle of a large email marketing campaign to their donor base - until the on line option to purchase the raffle tickets you see here was removed.
From PayPal's actions, it's clear that they mistakenly believe that entering a raffle where you might win a gun is the same thing as actually going to an FFL and purchasing a gun. It's not.
What is actually taking place is people are making a donation to Soldiers’ Angels and Project Valour-IT, and for every $10 they spend they get a raffle ticket that might win them a gun. Whoever wins the raffle has to go through an FFL to acquire the gun.
The terms of the raffle state as much: "If the winner of the raffle cannot legally own this pistol, they are automatically disqualified from the raffle, and there is no substitution or other prize to be awarded."
In other words, if you can't normally purchase a gun legally from an FFL, you can't win this gun in this raffle. Simple as that.
Now, PayPal's outright hostility to this perfectly legal raffle and the way they treated Soldiers’ Angels inspired us at Lucky Gunner Ammo to host the on line purchase of the raffle tickets here. Without PayPal. Without their anti-gun mindset.
The ENTIRE proceeds of each raffle ticket go to Project Valour-IT, less a 3% credit card fee. Every raffle ticket purchased counts as a charitable 501(c)(3) contribution to Soldiers' Angels.

- LuckyGunner is not hosting the raffle, we are simply collecting online donations and passing them on to Soldiers’ Angels (less the 3% credit card fee).
- Prize fulfillment will be handled by Kevin Baker's independently chosen FFL dealer and Front Sight Firearms Training Institute.
