A: You may find that most handgun ammo usually offers a full metal jack round for target practice and a hollow point round for defense. Considering the 5.56 round, a FMJ round has been found to be a good round for both target and defensive applications.
The most popular rounds for this caliber will be found in either a 55 grain or 62 grain bullet. Both will perform well in most AR-15 style rifles. If you plan to use your rifle at an indoor range, an XM193 bullet will be desired as this will not stick to a magnet.
Some will consider a .223 soft point of hollow point round for defensive applications as this round will safely fire in a 5.56 rifle.
If you have any additional questions about this caliber, please feel free to send us an e mail or call!
