Newly manufactured by Federal at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (LCAAP), this product is excellent for target practice and tactical exercises. This ammunition comes pre-loaded in 10 round stripper clips making it extremely quick to reload your magazines so that you can spend more of your time at the range shooting!

Each round is brass-cased, boxer-primed, non-corrosive, and reloadable. It is both economical and precision manufactured in the United States by an established U.S. cartridge producer. These cartridges are extremely reliable and are tested to work properly between -40 to +125 degrees Fahrenheit.

The XM193 bullets sport a boat-tailed design for improved long-range accuracy and ballistics performance. This projectile has a lead core, copper jacket, and is non-magnetic. These rounds feature a water resistant lacquer applied to seal the primer and case mouth.

Federal Ammunition is owned by ATK, which is under contract to run the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. ATK is allowed to sell their excess production to the civilian market, and does so under the Federal American Eagle label. Because this XM193 ammunition comes off military production lines, it is loaded at 5.56mm specifications, and is ideal for 5.56mm firearms. The X is simply an internal federal designation for ammunition sold on the civilian market. This ammunition meets all military specifications.

XM193 has been available for some time, but has recently become available on stripper clips in 30 round boxes. Stripper clips make loading magazines very easy and much faster than trying to load one round at a time. This is especially useful for owners of semi-automatic rifles, most of which use 30 round magazines. This way, you can grab one box and load one magazine. Also, you'll spend more time shooting and less time loading magazines.

One important step in the manufacturing process for brass-cased ammunition is annealing. Ammunition cases go from a flat sheet of brass to a formed case through a number of steps, and each step causes the brass to become brittle so it is heated to ensure that it remains workable. When brass is produced for US military ammunition, the evidence of the annealing process is left on the case so that the military's inspectors can ensure that this critical step has been completed. Every step in this process is completed in the United States, and Lake City Brass is consider to be some of the best in the world.

Another feature of this ammunition is that it's extremely weather resistant. There's a lacquer primer sealant, as well a case mouth sealant to prevent moisture from intruding and damaging the ammunition's effectiveness. The primer is crimped in place, preventing the primer from blowing out and stopping a semi-automatic or automatic weapon from functioning. It is tested to function from negative 40 degrees to 125 degrees Fahrenheit.

The bullet features a cannelure and the mouth of the case is crimped, reducing chances of bullet setback, which can result in unsafe pressures or malfunctions.

I tested this XM193 ammunition in various semi-automatic rifles and carbines, and it functioned perfectly in all of them. It was accurate during slow fire, and consistent and reliable during rapid fire. Because this is 5.56 pressure ammunition, it will function more reliably in weapons that are dirty or have not been properly lubricated.

XM193 is loaded with a 55 grain full metal jacket boat tail bullet designed for accuracy and effectiveness that ranges out to 500 yards. With a lead core and the copper jacket, it is acceptable for any range that allows the use of rifles. I chronographed this load in rifle and carbine-length AR-15s, and the results were consistent with the military specifications for this ammo.

This ammo is manufactured by a company with decades of experience with military ammunition production. It's meant to function under the harshest conditions found on Earth. I would recommend this for any training or range use.

This ammo was an astounding deal when I picked it up at the beginning of Nov. 2012 (right before the election). Unfortunately, the price has gone up quite a bit since then. The ammo shoots very clean and coming 30 rounds/box, 10 per stripper clip is very convenient. I can load all of my magazines in just a couple of minutes.

Definite buy and check back often for the best price.

Ordered two boxes of these 900 packs. They arrived quicker than I expected. I blasted away about 100 of these rounds through my new Rock River Arms LAR-15. Not a single malfunction of any kind. Love that their on stripper clips, makes reloading mags easier and quicker. Hold onto those stripper clips! you can "re-fill" them with some loose rounds.
I've read and heard mixed thoughts on the "X" designation these have on them, some people think they're over production of military spec ammo being sold to the civilian market. Some think their "2nds", that they didn't pass military spec quality control, but their good enough for civilian use...
I don't know myself but all i know is they work. They feed, fire & eject just fine.
Will order again when I get more spare cash!

The ammo shoots great, zero malfunctions while at the range last weekend. It was on my doorstep in 3 days time, and the customer service here at lucky gunner is by far the best I've seen. The only reason I gave this 4 starts on "value" was because you can get the same thing on stripper clips from Federal for about $20 less (the 900 rounds), except the boxes aren't as "pretty" as these. A friend and I have shot all 900 rounds through our AR-15s and had not a single malfunction. The delivery took a matter of days, and I was able to track the order as I eagerly awaited my ammunition. I recommend removing the rounds from the stripper clip before loading them into your mags to guarantee they are seated properly. I've never met a trustworthy stripper clip.

I purchase 99.9% of my ammunition from LuckyGunner. Their prices, products, active inventory system and fast shipping are the best in the business. I can't even begin to tally up how many rounds of M193 I have fired over the past 30 years. I also can't remember the last time I had any type of malfunction that was caused by this ammunition. It isn't the prettiest ammo out there but it functions perfectly, goes bang everytime and is relatively clean burning if your using a direct impingement AR. The stripper clips are a nice bonus and at .34 per round not including shipping costs you can't go wrong on the price. This ammo is manufactured at the Lake City facility right here in the U.S.A. Our ammunition is the best in the world bar none. This M193 is dependable, accurate and well suited for all types of shooting.

I am no expert when i comes to ammo and I have not yet fired this batch. First impressions was that a lot of the cartridges had dings in them and the casings seemed a little dirty. Take that for what it is. Other than that, delivery was fast and the 900 rounds do fit into a 50cal can.

I love this ammo and couldn't believe the price when I saw it on here. I actually bought the 400 case of the same American Eagle XM193 with no stripper clips, but I bought the last case so I couldn't leave a comment on that products page. Luckygunner got the ammo to me in 3 days which is unheard of else where. If they keep this stuff in stock I will be buying from here regularly.

The fact that the ammo is brass cased, boxer primed puts it ahead of a lot of the ammo out there in this price range. The stripper clips are just gravy. In over 500 rounds, not one failure to feed/fire/extract/eject, and my M&P 15 eats this stuff like a Texan at a BBQ shack.

I recently bought this ammunition and finally had a chance to go to the range with it. It was the first time that I bought this product, and it was the first use of my new rifle. The stripper clips and feeders worked smoothly and easily for loading the magazines in my Ruger 556. The brass is not polished, and the packaging very plain - but the performance was flawless. I am looking forward to heading out to the range to fire more of this ammunition.

Q: I'M CONSIDERING BUYING FEDERAL AMER. EAGLE 5.56 IN 900 RD. ITEM. BUT I NOTICED AT THE BOTTOM OF INFO. PAGE IT SAYS I WOULD NEED TO ALSO PURCHASE SHAKER RIDGE LOADING GUIDES. PART #99672. I TRIED SEARCHING YOUR SITE USING THIS NUMBER BUT COULD NOT FIND?

A: It is possible we may be sold out of the loading guides at the moment, however this will not be required to access the ammo from the loaded clips the rounds ship on. If you have a small flat-head screwdriver, you can bend down the small metal tab(s) on the end of the clips which hold the 1st and 10th round onto the clip. Once bent, you can manually remove the rounds off the clips. While this will not work for a quick loading off the clip into the magazine, this will convert your clips of ammo into loose rounds which may be repackaged into the individual boxes. If you are only unloading a few at a time, the tabs are weak enough to use your fingernail to pry these tabs down, though I doubt this would be a first choice by many shooters.
