A: No sir. The 45-70 Government is a much longer and more powerful .45 cal rifle cartridge. Your M1892 can only fire 45 Colt ammunition. It is often referred to as "45 Long Colt," which helps to differentiate it from 45 ACP (another entirely different cartrdige). You can see our selection of 45 LC ammo here: https://www.luckygunner.com/handgun/45-long-colt-ammo

A: Yessir, this round's bullet has the flat nose profile that equals safe functionality in a lever-action rifle's tubular magazine.

A: That's a nice rifle and this is a nice cartridge for it! It is loaded to a pressure that Henry's 45-70 Single Shot Rifle can handle just fine, its bullet's copper jacket will keep the rifle's bore cleaner bore cleaner.

A: Absolutely, I shouldn't imagine this ammo would present any issues if you ran it through a revolver!

A: Hello George! Your rifle is at stake here, so we referred your question to Sellier & Bellot themselves. Here is what they said:
"We have not tested the 4570GOVT in that rifle as it was produced for the more modern lever guns etc…
"We have it listed at 1500fps and most 45-70 loads will fall in the 1300fps range for safe use in the old Trapdoor rifles. If the firearm is in good condition and can be fired with other current production loads it would be prudent to stick to the lowest velocity or pressure rounds that you can find.
"The firearm might handle the load but overtime and repeated use it might be too much for the rifle.
"Sorry to be so vague but it will probably work but depends on the condition of the firearm."

A: Absolutely, Michael! This round's soft point bullet has a flat nose, so it will stack up in a tubular magazine safely.
